Unsound reveals the first wave of artists for 2018

Unsound Festival has announced the first wave of artists participating for this year’s edition. The theme of the festival is “Presence,” and it’s taking place on the 7th until the 14th of October.

International festival Unsound first started in Kraków, Poland, back in 2006, and later throughout the years was held in different places and toured many metropolitan cities. For this year’s edition, the program schedule and activities are mainly focused on “Presence” as a theme. The first wave of artists has also been announced, with the whole festival passes being available from this Wednesday. Individual day tickets and furthermore artists will be available later next month.

Disclosed list of artists include Alva Noto, Amnesia Scanner presents AS Oracle, Ben UFO, Blawan, DJ Bus Replacement Service, Iglooghost, JASSS, Jlin & Company Wayne McGregor present Autobiography Edits, Lucrecia Dalt, Marie Davidson, Skee Mask b2b Zenker Brothers, Terry Riley & Gyan Riley, The Mover, Tim Hecker, and many more.

Honourable mentions include performances by Jlin who is returning to the festival premiering the Autobiography Edits with Company Wayne McGregor, Alva Noto will make his Unsound debut, taking inspiration from mathematics, science, code, data into an immersive audio and visual performance. Tim Hecker is combining his unique minimalism take on ambient and noise with traditional Japanese Gagaku court musicians, blending digital and acoustic sound. This year marks the tenth anniversary of PAN, with whom Unsound has worked closely with assembling a PAN stage since 2012 in the festival. For this year PAN x Unsound are preparing different shows and programs exploring how artists can use contemporary technologies in their work.
