Moogfest announces second wave of the lineup for 2018 edition

The annual event that honours Robert Moog’s musical inventions will take place in Durham, North Carolina, from 17-20 of May.

This edition will be Moogfest’s third year in Durham, previously held in Asheville where Robert Moog, the inventor of the Moog synthesizer, spent the last 30 years of his life. The festival offers interactive experiences, visual art exhibitions, installations, film screenings, panel discussions, question and answer sessions, and workshops.

Phase one and phase two of the lineup include artists such as Mouse On Mars, Kelela, Jon Hopkins, Suzanne Ciani, Midori Takada, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Aurora Halal, Helena Hauff, Psychic TV, DJ Stingray, Emptyset, and Aisha Devi, leaving other performing artists and information to be revealed in the near future.

Workshops and conversations happening during the festival are a performance with hybrid analog and digital instruments by composer and sound artist Lauren Sarah Hayes, a discussion led by NYU professor and electronic composer Elizabeth Hoffman on composing through empathetic and creative listening, and a workshop led by composer and sound designer Eric Marty on integrating environmental sounds into new compositions using new technology, among many other lectures and workshops happening during the four day festival.
