New documentary about the iconic Japanese artist Ryuichi Sakamoto

Ryuichi Sakamoto: Coda documentary directed by Stephen Nomura Schible, portraits both the artist and the man that Ryuichi Sakamoto is, an important factor of contemporary art.

Spurring from different genres such as Pop to even Oscar-winning music composing, Ryuichi Sakamoto is an iconic artist hailing from Japan. The evolution of his music accompanies his journey in life, from being an activist against nuclear power following the Fukushima incident to being diagnosed with throat cancer and dealing with excessive life crisis. Notable mentions of his contributions in movies include: The Revenant, Call Me By Your Name, The Last Emperor, and Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence in which he also plays a role opposite David Bowie.

The documentary will be in cinemas across UK and Ireland from the 29th of June.
