Midori Takada returns with new release after two decades

Midori Takada, the renown Japanese composer, has marked her first release in nearly 20 years, a single track EP titled Le Renard Bleu out via !K7. The single is available now digitally, whereas the vinyl version will follow-up on the 24th of August.

The title of the EP itself Le Renard Bleu translates to Blue Fox, which is said to inspire Takada from Japanese and Senegalese folktales dedicated to animals. The Japanese producer composed her single in Tokyo for one week at Avaco Creative Studios. Using various tools, Takada “crafted the instrumentals using waterphone, bells, marimba and various forms of drums.” Later the material was further developed with the help of experimental pop artist and Warp label affiliate Lafawndah, adding together lyrics and melodic tunes to the 20-minute release.

The single is accompanied together with a film of the same name, directed by Partel Olivia.
