In the drowsy heat of mid-summer, we compiled a collection of thirteen emotionally charged tracks for July’s Orb Premieres. Alongside some exciting compilations featuring producers from around the globe, there are several collaborative projects, both in terms of individual tracks and entire releases. This month’s premiere summary offers a range of diverse and stimulating moods, from club-driven cuts and heavy-hitters to obscure drones and contemplative pieces.
DYL & Tammo Hesselink – Pattern 1
In the intervals between the heavy-hitting pumps of “Pattern 1” by DYL and Tammo Hesselink, the reverberating and slow motifs swerve, channelling hazy tunes of atmospheric shakes. The opening track of this fresh collaborative release, Moiré Patterns, is out via Aura Sonora.
Sun People – We Felt The Past
Sun People’s quirky and roving motifs on “We Felt The Past,” from the three-track same-titled release used as a teaser for the upcoming full-length album on All Things Records, are driven by a stiff and tunnelling percussive flow, instilling a wildly hallucinating intensity within its jittery taps and swaps.
Andy Rantzen – Black Smoke (Alternative Mix 3)
Through this new take, Andy Rantzen in “Black Smoke (Alternative Mix 3),” the original track released back in 2001 and now digitally in Black Smoke (2025 Remaster), attempts to remark the fluidity of this intoxicating piece via a toned-down tempo, deep throbs, and a concrete bassline while delving into darker sonic territories.
Igor Dyachenko – Emitting
Igor Dyachenko’s “Emitting” harnesses with remarkable precision the natural essence of sound waves while embracing the playful intricacies of experimental echoes for a mentally euphoric succession towards relief and respite. The track is from the full-length LP Post Ambient Lux on Appendix.files.
Kommune – I
The drowsy flickers residing within the mystical drones of Kommune’s “I” roam the narrow corridors raised by hypnotic and enchanting loops, leaving traces of their enduring escape across subsonic fields before transgressing to sharper noises pushed by resounding bass forms. “I” is part of the double LP Oast, available on Second Circle’s catalogue.
Glaesha – Árka Will Know
Elusive yet focused, Glaesha’s “Árka Will Know” encapsulates a refined jungle-themed sensation in Memory Implant, laid on lucid foundations of elastic smoothness and vibrant oneiric turns, which unfold in a crisp whirlwind of imaginative buildup, shaping a velvety outline of dense and determined formations.
Christian Duka – Crescere
Christian Duka’s work, “Crescere,” explores the complexities and fragility of the human psyche, offering insightful and thoughtful reflections on a range of innate emotions and highlighting both the strength and vulnerability of human nature, as well as themes of growth and rejuvenation.
Okgwa – White Field
Travelling on entrancing ceremonial currents and floating on ambient, textural spectacles, “White Field” by Okgwa draws a sensorial pull towards a profound meditative act with iterations of sense-elevating organic flows immersed in a heightened nocturnal receptiveness on exotic soundscapes. It is part of Ragom, the third compilation from Siamese Twins Records.
TOMO – Dawinush
TOMO’s “Dawinush” employs ferocious taps and highly pulsating upbeat circuitries for a dynamic series of cascading fissures, tied to a pinchy, cerebral design of synthetic ruptures and uncompromising high-pressure cuts. “Dawinush” is from the GEON LP on Alliance, in which TOMO joins forces with Abo Abo.
Kreggo – Obabi
Forged in a sleek, mid-tempo structure, Greggo’s “Obabi” glides through eclectic plains with iterations of deep cerebral tones to create sensational tribal-like foldings in a firm and transcendental mental state. Find the track in the Altro Mood EP on Oath’s catalogue.
Insomniast – Reakt
The heated beats fueled by a club-driven aesthetic in “Reakt” by Insomniast complement RUTA’s Erre VA with decisive bursts, recursive brain-jamming signals, and intense percussive whirls, shaking the dancefloor ground with electrifying ripples.
Obstructor – Bittersweet
A timid journey through the void’s melancholic archways, shrouded in an eerie and cold mantle, is a scene narrated by Obstructor in “Bittersweet,” who gently explores the profound distress that blossoms within the labyrinthine human mind. “Bittersweet” is part of the BLENDE02 compilation on instinkt lab.
Insomniast – Sell Feet Pics (noRecall’s Slow Focus Remix)
Depicting a cavernous descent into swampy textures, noRecall’s remix of Insomniast’s “Sell Feet Pics” captivates with its layered tweaks to an almost oriental-sounding rhythmic quality, enhancing the already fast-paced original production with a fresh sonic arsenal of bass-break combinations. This remix is released digitally as a single on Ommaya records.
