Orb Premieres: April 2025

April’s fierce winds of inspiration urged a handful of producers to step into the productive zone, and some of those creations have been contributed to our latest Orb Premieres. Thus, an extensive and colourful list of twenty tracks has been shaped, including progressive, sentimental, or sophisticated ideas. Almost in its entirety, it reflects the ever-beating electronic heart of Europe, where one can still sense, amidst various hardships and challenges in the continent, the purpose, composure and determination that resides in the community’s core. From ambient and experimental sounds to electro, dub, and hypnotic techno, a delve into April’s premiere summary can, ultimately, offer appealing auditory experiences that appeal to various electronic music tastes.

Nils Edte – Ätherna

Pushed from the depths to flourish to the surface, Nils Edte’s subterranean beats and organic echoes in “Ätherna,” from his latest EP Causa in Predawn Records, transform into forceful textures within a lively sonic habitat, accompanied by unique resounding clangs.

Aritmia Sonora – Indice Probabilistico (ft. TT)

Capturing the energy of unpredictable pulsations from primitive, elemental layers, Aritmia Sonora and TT in  “Indice Probabilistico” unearth the slumbering and unseen resonations of nature’s fluctuations and encapsulate them into a bouncy soundscape. The track is part of the Rizoma Granulare compilation of Decadance.

Hame – Dear Sammy

The warm, synchronized company of synths and light percussion that Hame employs in “Dear Sammy,” a track found in Set Me Free on Pintai, creates a heartwarming and sentimental atmosphere, evoking a comforting sense of determination, purpose, and personal reflection.

Synkro – Kings Chamber

Found on the Kings Chamber EP on The Moth Club Records, Synkro’s same-titled track is a synaptic exercise in which ambient flows and drips, calming, subsonic dub sequences that appear in waves, and spiritual fade-ins and outs formulate their own special and welcoming chamber.

Nadia Struiwigh – X1 Shift

In “X1 Shift,” from her latest, same-titled EP on Blueprint Records, Nadia Struiwigh projects a haunting revitalization shaped by a turbulent bassline, nervously entropic pumps, and gravitational loops and slides toned by creaky winds in an absorbingly eerie ambience.

Prōtokol – Suazopha

Prōtokol’s step into the ethereal cosmic vastness is partially reflected through the entrancing embrace of “Suazopha,” a track which gently combines contemplation’s corporeal stillness with its immersively recurring theme and the mental expeditions with sudden, re-approaching energetic bursts. “Suazopha” is in the Kowuq: Ætheria EP on Planisphère.

Brainwave Research Center – Transmitter Park (Benedikt Frey Remix)

With an airy and joyous temperament, Benedikt Frey’s remix of “Transmitter Park” by Brainwave Research Center highlights the duo’s notable transitions with a pair of distinct, smooth, and crystallised chords and pads, pinching the attention with a light psychedelic tune. Both the original and the remix are in the Psychic Antenna EP on R.i.O.

Biemsix – Old Patterns And Beliefs

Stripped of unnecessary complexity and letting the raw energy flow from within, Biemsix in “Old Patterns And Beliefs,” from Emptyverse EP on EXEKUTE, incorporates the hardships when the innate need arises to shed the old self through hypnotically revolving drones, focused percussion, and sharpened strings.

Poly Chain – Hypercompensation

Poly Chain’s clean experimental cuts meet the elusive ambient manoeuvres in “Hypercompensation”’s new club-driven tapestry, seamlessly and aesthetically aligning the highest quality of the outputs under a new threshold. Find the track amongst fourteen more in the Nemesis full-length via the newly established Lightronics.

Sinemis – Exit Democracy

A memoir reflecting the continuous sociopolitical downfall and a disregard for the core humane values, Sinemis’ “Exit Democracy” is an elegantly melancholic and emotionally-bursting lament, intending with its firm pounding and gripping harmony to shed a ray of courage and persistence. “Exit Democracy” is from the new album Farewell by Sinemis on Injazero Records.

Response – Freedumb

“Freedumb” is Response’s refreshingly elongated and slow ambient piece from the Subjugated album on Academeia, bringing forth elevating, dreamlike textures with subliminal hues and vocals to induce a feeling of belonging and balance.

Plastique01 & Lady Starlight – Octagon Song

The joyful, synthetic sonic terrain of Plastique01’s “Octagon Song,” nourished by Lady Starlight’s vigorous temperament, stylishly inspires euphoric emotions and enhances, with sparkling pulsations, the positive vibe framed within this bouncy sequence. The track is in the They Made It Their Own album, out via DE RIO.

Vilhelm Hasselgren – Central Line

Vilhelm Hasselgren’s “Central Line” stands out with its intricate rhythmicality, d’n’b sways, and experimental broken motifs as they pair with artificial tilting sounds in an ecstatic dance, stepping on robust chords and wild tappings. The track is available in the Central Line EP on Bukva Sound.

Dylan Thomas – Silent Reverie In To Memory

Spiralling aquatic loops in Dylan Thomas’ “Silent Reverie In To Memory” from We Don’t Own, We Create on Futurepast conjure a subtly hypnotic frame, converging subsonic thrusts and releasing them in a densely textured nebulous stratum.

Molen – Mechanism

Molen’s nocturnal emissions in “Mechanism” fabricate an ominous atmosphere, calling for an in-depth exploration of otherworldly grooves through bouncy beats, glazy drifts, and compressed bassline moves echoing through the misty surroundings. “Mechanism” is in the four-track EP Machine Dreams, out via Craigie Knowes.

J. Wiltshire – re-orbing

The slow progression of “re-orbing” by J. Wiltshire emanates colourful harmonic hues that gracefully shape a mellow soundscape of a distinct warmth, marking each step of its exploration with heavy reverberating beats. The track is in the moon rings LP on Super Hexagon.

d. towärds – m-steps

Piercing fissures and coarse spins unleashed by d.towärds in “m-steps” blend with evershifting, deconstructive patterns, progressively adjusting the perspective, in a constantly evolving and interchanging geometry. Find “m-steps” in the debut 12″ EP from d. towärds, Rephlex, on SORN.

Luke Hess – Perissos

“Perissos,” from Luke Hess’ album Arkeo on DeepLabs, invokes nostalgic rhythmic designs and profound eclecticism, led by deep deep-poundings, uplifting hats and exhilarating background ambience in a journey towards self-awareness.

new-dot-com – Unthank

The quirky, broken-beat ventures through uncharted sonic territories in “Unthank” by new-dot-com promote a fresh and daring endeavour, blurring the conventional boundaries in a masterfully assembled dub and UK bass element flow. Available in the U-1 Flight release of new-dot-com on Comfortnoise.

Lint. – No Time for Distance (Genus Aix Remix)

Emerging from abstract and surrealistic electronic waters, Genus Aix’s remix of Lint.’s “No Time For Distance” provokingly and unexpectedly distorts the frequencies to generate a grounded and hazy climate while maintaining a faint sense of elation through atmospheric gusts. This remix, together with the original track, is part of No Time For Distance on appendix.files.
